October's Everyday Adventures

We've been here for a couple of months and we are sort of settling down.  We stay busy by taking Parker to school, going to the park or library, washing our car, and playing with new friends.  Here is October in pictures.

Pumpkin Patch

We visited the Wishing Star Farm for our pumpkin picking.  I think that we picked a freezing cold day.  It looked nice and it did say it would be higher temps but that wind can sure kill warm temperatures.  Luckily I had all of the kids coats in the car.  Willie and I could have used a little extra though.  I'm glad I was able to carry Caroline around.  This farm had some fun activities.  This was the favorite that the kids loved; the duck races.  We didn't spend much time but they also had a big jumping pillow, horse rides, a big slide and a tractor ride.  Those are the things we did not do.  Would have been more worth our money if we could have done those too.  I was sad there were no trees around this place.  I miss Georgia just a bit.

Parker did the train ride, he used Lincoln's ticket too.
The big hay pyramid.  Good shelter from the wind.

Caroline fell asleep and I tried to keep her cozy warm.

Then we headed back to the duck races.

Time for picking our pumpkin.  They were all about the same size and shape.  Maybe next year we will get to grow our own pumpkins.

Lincoln was the only one excited for picking a pumpkin.
Quickly after getting his pumpkin he jumped in the stroller and bundled up.
I love Caroline's pink snowsuit.  She stayed so warm.

Denver Temple

Willie and I had some great news from my sister a few weekends before November.  She called to tell us that she would be going through the Temple to take her endowments out.  That means she was making a decision to make covenants (a two way promise) with God.  If you are more interested in the temples and why we go to them, you may visit this link.
Anyway, I worked really hard to get two names ready to go to the temple.  I needed to get all the work done and then I could take the names for my deceased ancestors through for their endowments on the same day as my sister.  Willie and I took turns in the Denver temple.  When I went in I had the male and female names and got their cards ready.  I knew we were a little late making it in time for the youth group who were doing baptisms.  When I walked in however the brother in charge asked if there were any young sisters who would do another name.  One girl who was nearly finished said she would do it.  She got back in her white clothing and did the baptism for my ancestor.  Then a brother from the youth group did the man I had.  Since the baptism went quickly I decided to do the initiatory for the woman I had.  I must say that this temple visit was one of the quickest I had ever done.  Willie went in and did the work for the man.  While he was in the temple I took the boys (and Caroline) for a walk around the temple.  This is one of Henry's 2 year old photos with his bear.

All of my kids for their first time at the Denver temple.  It was a chilly day but well worth it.
Snack time.  You must always have food to keep the kids happy.

Leaf Jumping

September 2012
I borrowed my neighbors rakes and we started working in the yard.  It was great that he had a little one.  I for sure need to buy about three of these for next year.  The boys were excited to put their costumes on a little early and help build a pile of leaves.
Caroline enjoyed some time in the sun.

I am so grateful that we had a tree in our yard that we could rake leaves.  While we lived in Georgia we had plenty of trees but we didn't have the yard or the rake to build a pile.  We would sometimes walk in the gutters and stomp on the dry leaves; it was the best we could do at that time.  Yeah for the beautiful fall.

While The Cat's Away

The week following Labor Day we stayed to play with my family.  The kids watched the dogs.  Parker was good with them but the other two boys were a bit nervous to have the dogs out running around.  One day we will need a dog. :)

This is Sadie.  She loves to play catch.  In fact she has trained all the grandchildren to throw a ball for her.  While we were there Parker and I were out front throwing the ball.  I would throw the ball for her and she would come and drop it in front of Parker.  She was trying her hardest to get him to throw the ball.  We love this girl.

Sprinkler fun.

Parker playing tricks on his brothers.

When the girls came home after school we got to play a little more on the big slide.  The boys had a great time but I still could never get Henry to go down.

These kids were coming up with some new landing styles.  Kind of fun.

Grandma Glenna serves her mission a couple of days each week.  She made it home and came to spend some time with Caroline.

I love that all the kids had their chips and were hanging out with Caroline on this one.  These girls are so much fun!
One thing that I really wanted to do while we were back was ask my grandma how to can peaches.  When I came home my mom had been canning peaches.  My grandma ordered a few more bushels of peaches and we started working.  I wish I could say that I did more but it seems that any time I got started one of the kids would need my attention.  I canned about six jars (which needed to be fixed a little).  My mom, Jess and Grandma did the rest.  They did a beautiful job and the peaches taste great!  Thanks for teaching me about canning Grandma and mom.
